What is Botox?
Botox® Cosmetic is a safe, non-surgical, physician-administered purified protein that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, forehead creases and “crow’s feet”. Botox® Cosmetic is FDA approved and has been found to be a popular treatment in the United States for reversing the visible signs of aging. The recovery time is minimal and within days, you may see a noticeable improvement. The results will gradually fade over four months and the muscle action will return. A simple treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the desired results.
A tiny needle is used to administer a small amount of Botox® directly into the muscles with the entire procedure taking approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. You may resume normal activities immediately however do not rub the injected area for 4 hours following the treatment.
Some patients may experience tenderness, redness or a slight, temporary bruising at the injection site. In some cases, patients could experience temporary muscle weakness, eyelid drooping, nausea or asymmetry of facial expression.
What is gel ?
Juvederm® Injectable Gel is the latest non-surgical physician administered choice of patients for smoothing facial wrinkles and lip augmentation. It is safe and temporary cosmetic dermal filler that is made of a natural substance, hyaluronic acid, which restores the skins hydration and replenishing its natural volume. Juvederm® Injectable Gel is FDA approved to last up to 1 year and is the first FDA- approved hyaluronic acid filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color- research has shown no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring. The procedure is quick and recovery time is minimal. The results are immediate and to maintain optimal results, “touch up” treatments may be necessary.
Juvederm® is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The treatment itself takes approximately 15 minutes. For the first 24 hours following treatment, it is advised to avoid strenuous exercise, consumption of alcoholic beverages and sun exposure in order to help minimize temporary redness, itching and/or swelling at the treatment sites.
Some patients may experience temporary injection site reactions ranging from mild to moderate such as: redness, pain, swelling or firmness lasting no more than 7 days. Although extremely rare, it is possible for injections to damage nerves or blood vessels causing sensation changes or skin damage.
